The E30 platform from BMW is a really sentimental car to me personally. Being the first car I cut my teeth on and one I have wanted back since it was sold. This E30 cabriolet was found in California where it had lived for its entire life. Previous owner had the car serviced by a reputable San Diego indy shop and it arrived here in Tennessee in wonderful condition. Timing belt and water pump were replaced in Jan of 2015 being the main service required on these cars. However, we are not ones to leave well enough alone. Our BMW Master tech went in and did a fresh valve adjustment to get the Schrick cam back into its sweet spot, MAF (remember these have the old trap door unit) was removed and sent out for a full rebuild. Knowing all items were working, the engine was happy and service was up to snuff, we went after the goodies. Installing new tie rod ends, Ireland Engineering stress bar and a set of BC Coilovers with the Swift spring upgrade and we selected the 8k and 9K rate pairing. The ride is better than factory with amazing feel and accuracy. Not jarring or hateful at all. We then had our Porsche shop set up the suspension to E30 M3 EVO specs. UUC short shifter with Delrin bushings and the UUC knob that is weighted and the perfect size for your hand. The steering wheel is a Renown unit with Motorsport stitching and feels amazing. We deleted the old Gen 1 airbag correctly and no lights are on the dash.
This E30 has received a window out respray once in its life but ALL VIN TAGS REMAIN. This indicates the car has never been wrecked, body lines are all sharp and even, NO RUST, even some of the Cosmoline remains on the engine. Very correct car with "period cool" upgrades. WE installed the Hartge Replica wheels in a 16" variant (we feel this is the best size to balance the car visually and not make the tires so slim they knock your teeth out, we made this car to be driven). Brand new Bridgestone Re090 tires in 215 width (not easy to find but the best fitment). Top was once power but is now a manual unit with new hatch shocks making top up/down a breeze and nothing left to fail back there. Everything works on this car, yes it has a dash cap but honestly its installed so well 9 out of 10 people wont even catch it. One of the finest E30 cars out there running its factory engine and under 100K miles. You could buy an E30 M3 for double the money and get left behind at a redlight by this hot 2.5L!
