Description

What you are bidding on is a beautiful piece of American history.  The Studebaker Rockne 65 had an original production run of 29,812 vehicles between February 1932 and July 1933, and about 170 "whole" Rocknes remain in existance today. The Rockne Coach (2-door sedan) is a relatively rare body style, with only about a dozen listed in the Rockne Registry today.  The Body production number is 690 (noted in pics), and these numbers seem to have been sequential for the entire production line, and not by the body style.  So, while this one might have been the 690th "65" body produced, it was not the 690th "65" 2-door sedan produced.  Also included in the pics is the VIN number located on the frame.

Originally manufactured with a six-cylinder motor producing 66 horsepower, this Rockne has been updated to a Chevy 350 C.I.D. V8 supercharged engine pushing out over 500 horsepower to the rear wheels!  There are very few flaws in the car, which are noted in the pictures and are as follows: On the roof over the driver door there is a scratch (measured with a quarter); toward the left rear corner of the roof there is a dent (6-8") that can be fixed (no crease); on the passenger side of the rear of the cowl there is a scratch (being pointed to) and there is also an imperfection on the top of the passenger side panel.  These imperfections are small and hard to find unless you are looking for them, but I have to be up front about them.

The exterior of the Rockne is painted in Cadillac Red, and the artwork under the hood depicts the "Rat Fink" character of the Hot Rod / Kustom Kulture scene of the 1950s and 1960s.  On the grille, you will notice the "V" in the grille, which was distinct on the Rockne 65 model.  On the rear, you have to look twice to notice the third brake light that is directly under the rear window that was built into the body, which was a very nice addition.  Photos of the third brake light at night have recently been added.  On the four corners you will see the B.F. Goodrich tires mounted on Weld Racing wheels, and behind them sits the four-wheel disc brakes and Carrera street rod shocks.

The interior of the Rockne is quite a treat, with everything from Dolphin gauges to an upgraded CD stereo system.  From the LeCarra steering wheel to the B&M MegaShifter to the Rockne-symbol embossed seats, no expense was spared in this hot rod.  Air conditioning and seat belts make this car road ready today.
